Thursday Thirteen #4

Thirteen things I could probably live with less of

  1. Coffee: At a pot or more a day,I’m probably not doing myself any favors. (I can quit any time I tell you! Now give me the cup back!)
  2. Beer: Definitely not helping my waistline.
  3. Funyuns: What can I say, they go good with beer!
  4. Peanut butter on toast: OK, this time I can’t deny it, it’s an addiction… A very nearly daily habit, too.
  5. Butter based pan sauces: Again, not doing any wonders for my waistline, but I love ‘em, especially when there’s garlic in ‘em!
  6. Hot dogs: I love the bloody things, but they really aren’t a food group by themselves.
  7. Fat: I’m infamous for it. I’ll eat the fat off of nearly any piece of cooked meat. At least it doesn’t go to waste.
  8. Sugar: It’s in the coffee, in the tea, and in quite a few of the sauces I make. Then there’s the cookies and muffins and…
  9. Chicken: OK, I like it and it’s good for me, but we’ve been eating too damned much of it.
  10. Sandra Lee: Really, I could live without her altogether, but watching her show is like watching a train wreck. I find myself sitting in front of the TV screaming “Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!”
  11. Rachael Ray: OK, I love Ray-Ray, but 5 times a day… It’s a bit much.
  12. Boxed Mac-N-Cheese: It’s a dirty secret. I’ve never made mac and cheese from scratch, and the amount of sodium there is probably not helping anything in my life. At least I can say I try to make it healthier by adding broccoli and fresh cheese when I do make it.
  13. Cookbooks: Oh don’t get me wrong, I love cookbooks. the problem is that I’ll grab anything on the display rack at the grocery store with all the best intentions in the world of “making this one” or “trying that one”. And then I toss the sucker in a drawer with all the other forgotten orphaned books and never look at it again. It’s sad really. I’m a cookbook abuser! Is there a 13 step program for this?

Maybe you should write your own cookbook. The No-Beer, No-Butter-Sauces, No-PB, No-Fat, No-Sugar, BUT STILL TASTY Cookbook. I’d buy it!

I haven’t had Funyuns for years! They are yummy as are most of the things on your list! :) Except for Rachel Ray….she drives me crazy.

If these are addictions, I am in trouble! (Well minus the beer and the coffee, I am on a diet so I only drink lemonaid! LOL)

Funny list! My mouth goes dry just reading about PB on toast! How in the world can you eat that? :)

    Happy TT!

I drink way too much coffee, and the more I drink, the more I want!

I have almost cut coffee out of my diet. I drink perhaps 1/2 a cup a day, unless I go out for breakfast. Thank goodness I never got addicted to it. It isn’t good for us.

    Check out my TT.

There is no life without butter. Maybe the cookbooks should go instead? Nah!
    Good TT :)

I could live without all of these things too, especially now I’m on a weightloss plan! Happy TT!

Hilarious list! Lucky for me, I can’t tolerate caffeine, hate the taste of beer, have no idea what funyuns are (something with onions and fun?) and don’t like fat. You got me with the peanut butter though!

This is a great list! That pot-of-coffee-a-day thing was me a few years ago. I got boomerang headaches when I couldn’t maintain my caffeine levels. Hope that’s not happening to you!

Well…butter’s better than the alternative “butter-like substances” with their unpronounceable ingredients, no? :) And from one peanut-butter-on-toast addict to another: I feel ya.

    Your list made me hungry.

    I need more coffee.

I did a list of 13 food triggers for TT, and it worked. Nothing like telling the public what your sins are.

    My TT is up.

I think everyone could do without Funyuns.

Most of the chicken is not bad, but I love chicken hearts and liver.

Happy T13! This is one of the best lists I have seen. Couldbe because I love cooking too. I use to like Rachael Ray but she is a bit much these days. I love Paula Deen!!! Pass me some of that buttah! :)

I loved this list! It could be because I love to cook. I once liked Rachel Ray but she is a bit too much these days. Ilove Paul Deen. Pass me some of that buttah!

There can never be too many cookbooks.

Great list jerry…I can certainly relate to a few…My TT is about childhood foods and experiences and how they influenced me as an adult.

I think hot dogs should definetly go into theeir own food group!!
