Did someone call off Cinco de Mayo this year? It’s amazing to me how little I’ve heard of it, even here in Texas, where it’s usually a week long affair. A few food bloggers have touched on the subject, but not many, and the general media seems to be ignoring the day altogether, which is odd, considering that it’s not celebratd in many places in Mexico, but is usually a heckuva party around here.

In any event, my wife made a lovely tortilla soup for dinner this evening and I will be taking a break on my far East inspired meals for the next week, where I will be highlighting my wife’s absolutely wonderful South Western/Tex-Mex/Puerto Rican cooking. Asia will continue at the end of the week.
