The Thinking Blogger Award

I mentioned yesterday that Sandi at Whistlestop Cooking had tagged, and honored me with the Thinking Blogger Award. I took some time out and tracked down the starting point of this meme to the Thinking Blog, and was pleasantly surprised at the thought that spawned the award in the first place, so I decided to go ahead and follow the rules and try to come up with 5 blogs that make me think. (And are related to cooking, of course.)

First, the rules of the game: otherwise known as mandatory geek-speek)

  1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
  2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,
  3. Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote (here is an alternative silver version if gold doesn’t fit your blog).

No problem, I’m adding the badge in a few minutes, and I am proud of it!

And for the 5 food bloggers that have made me think:

  • Lisa at The Homesick Texan: Who, along with my wife, made me realize that even though I’m a naturalized Texan, I’ll never know what it means to be a Native Texan.
  • Lis at La Mia Cucina: Who, like me, sometimes forgoes being a staunch foodie and throws in a little ground beef… Or whatever else she has on hand.
  • Matt at the Abstract Gourmet: Who keeps me wondering how he can function while drinking even more coffee than I do. (sorry Mate, you fell off my newsreader for some reason. I’ll be checking in more often)
  • Deb over at Smitten Kitchen: Who not only makes me think, but generally evokes a chuckle. If that’s not worth giving an award for, I don’t know what is.
  • Laura Rebecca of Laura Rebecca’s Kitchen and the Retro Recipe Challenge: Who’s helped me realize that making truly great modern dishes very often means looking to the culinary past. (And she’s just a genuinely wonderful person.)

Please don’t be offended if you didn’t make this list. I’ve met a lot of great people in the food blogging world, and there simply aren’t enough slots available to me.

I’ll have to make that up to the rest of you in the very near future.

  2. [...] only fair I suppose, since I’d just tagged several great bloggers with the Thinking Blogger Award, that I’d get tagged as well, and by someone who hadn’t noticed I’d tagged her [...]

  3. Too, too nice of you.

As an aside, I’m so glad you’re part of the food blogging world! It’s so much fun to read your posts.
