By Jerry • Nov 20th, 2008 • Category: Personal Ramblings

Well folks, it’s that time of year again. parties, gatherings, family, friends and food are the order of the day for the next month and a half or so. The holidays are here, and here at CbsoP, we’re gearing up for the whole thing, both sweet and savory. It’s looking like there will be a flurry of recipes posted over the next week. Way more than my usual. I hope…

Warm thoughts for our undead friends this Holiday Season

By Jerry • Nov 17th, 2008 • Category: Personal Ramblings

This from the equal rights and opportunities department at CbsoP.com. Because we care about all of our readers, even those who may no longer be among the living, just as long as their rotting fingers can click on an ad, that is. Or in case of some strange post apocalyptic catastrophe that should render any of my currently living readers among the legions of the walking dead, we still want…

Happy Veteran’s Day!

By Jerry • Nov 11th, 2008 • Category: Personal Ramblings

As a first order of business for the day I would like to send my best wishes and heartfelt thanks to all of you who have ever donned a uniform in service of this great nation.  This is our day, people.  I hope that you have the opportunity to enjoy it.
Whether your service was long or short.  Whether you served in peace or in war, each of us took…

The Dangers of bread, and why it should be regulated.

By Jerry • Nov 9th, 2008 • Category: Personal Ramblings

Bread Is Dangerous

  1. More than 98 percent of convicted felons are bread users.
  2. Fully HALF of all children who grow up in bread-consuming households score below average on standardized tests.
  3. In the 18th century, when virtually all bread was baked in the home, the average life expectancy was less than 50 years; infant mortality rates were unacceptably high; many women died in childbirth; and diseases such as typhoid, yellow fever, and influenza ravaged…

Thinking of a friend…

By Jerry • Nov 7th, 2008 • Category: Personal Ramblings

I have a friend who lives just outside of Portland, Oregon.  Her daughter has been going through a lot, both physically and mentally since a car accident several years ago. It’s good that there are plenty of doctors in the area that are great at treating the issues that she was having in both physical therapy and retraining her thinking processes. (it was a serious accident.)
The wonderful portland orthopedic doctors…

Getting the Perfect Shot Part One - Setting The Stage

By Jerry • Nov 7th, 2008 • Category: Personal Ramblings

I know a lot of people are going to think I’m out of my mind for talking about staging before either props or lighting, but there’s a reason that I feel that this is the most important place to start. As a matter of fact, both staging and props are the first two factors in any layout I do, whether it’s  soup, a salad or a piece of toast.  Experience…

Getting the “Perfect Shot” - How I do it

By Jerry • Nov 6th, 2008 • Category: Personal Ramblings

For a food blog, having a perfect recipe is paramount, but getting people to actually look at that recipe may very well hinge on having the perfect picture to go along with it.  This is not necessarily as easy as it sounds.  You would think that snapping a picture of whatever is on the table would be simple, but that is very rarely ever the case.
Snapping a great food photo…

More in the CbsoP Store!

By Jerry • Nov 5th, 2008 • Category: Personal Ramblings, Shopping Alerts

Now there’s even more to love at the CbsoP Store.  I’ve just put out a few new Holiday themed T’s, with more coming in the next few days.
The photo at right is one example of what you’ll find in the Thanksgiving section of the store.  Meet Rambo Turkey.  He’s not going in without a fight!  Wouldn’t it be cool to wear this around just before the Holidays?
I’ve got…

Election Day 2008

By Jerry • Nov 4th, 2008 • Category: Personal Ramblings

It’s Election Day 2008.  All the buzz on twitter and everywhere else is about who’s voting for whom and who wants which candidate to win.  For someone who’s seen a lot of elections in his livetime, it’s actually quite inspiring to read about the turnout this year.  Peaople are fired up.  People want to be heard.  There’s almost a party atmosphere going on.  It’s a good year to be an…

New law allows salutes in civvies during anthem

By Jerry • Nov 4th, 2008 • Category: Personal Ramblings

This is definitely from the personal file, but i can’t help but spread the word.  it’s actually troubled me since I left the military that I no longer had the right to salute the flag when it was being raised or lowered, or when the anthem played.  I earned that right, as did every other man and woman in this country who ever wore a uniform.  Now I have the…
