A cuppa to get your day startedI hope all of you had the chance to watch the Food Network Awards last night. As for myself, I was pleasantly surprised that the show went as well as it did, and find that I’m looking forward to watching it again next year.

Having Giada and Rachael give the award for best chocolate seemed an odd combination, since Rachael never seems to cook with “real” chocolate, but I suppose they were going for the female factor.

The most poignant moment for me was the award of the scholarship to the CIA. I can’t think of anyone more deserving than a young man who’s been singlehandedly cooking for his family since he was very young.

On a truly off key note, did you notice that the only person they could get to take the stage with Sandra Lee was Bobby Deen? I wonder if he actually enjoyed it, or if he lost a bet with Alton.

My only regret? There was no “best guy grub” category. It could have been presented by Bobby Flay and Guy Fieri. Ah well, maybe next year.

I’ve been pretty busy on other projects over the past few days, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been snapping photos and jotting notes. I’ll be getting those recipes posted over the next few days, no worries there.

For now, I think I’m going to see if I have the ingredients for a revamped Sausage Stew or Kielbasa Stew. It just sounds like a good idea for dinner. I’m also hoping to whip out a Beef Burgundy at some point this week, so stay tuned!
