Sometimes it feels like yesterday. At other times it feels like it’s just always been a part of my routine. But the actuality is, it’s been a while.
To be exact, it’s been three months.
Three months ago today, Cooking by the seat of my Pants opened it’s doors to the world and offered up it’s first lonely recipe, along with its pasty washed-out photo. The response was staggering. According to my logs, a whoppin’ 3 people saw our debut recipe. (Three people including my wife.)
That lonely little entry isn’t so lonely now. It’s been joined by 77 friends as of this writing, and comments from the many fine people of the food blog community. In just three little months we’ve gone from just one visitor per day to between 20 and 60. It’s feeling like home now, and I’ve got plans for it.
Up to this point I’ve spent my time on Cooking by the seat of My pants primarily dishing up main course recipes. That venue worked well ’till now simply because it was the one meal I went out of my way to create.
Things will be changing however. The dietitian has stated firmly that my wife must eat breakfast, formerly a meal that neither one of us took much time for. Mornings here come early and are frenzied, so it hadn’t been a priority until now. If she’s following an eating schedule then I will as well, so expect some breakfast fare and some ideas on healthy lunches that work well for brown baggin’
It’s about time we started eating all the food groups an’ stuff.
On a different note:
While unexpected, I found it a bit prophetic that on the same day this site turned 3 months old, I was tagged with an award wrapped in a meme from Sandi at Whistlestop Cooking. Apparently she feels that this blog is worthy of being dubbed a “thinking blog”. I’m honored, but a bit puzzled, since I really hadn’t thought I’d gotten all intellectual at any point. Regardless, I’m glad that something I have written has stimulated any reader’s gray matter, and Sandi is one of the sweetest people around, so from her it’s definitely a compliment.

If I’m going to accept the thing, I suppose I have to go and tag 5 other people with it. To quote Sandi: “This award is for a blogger who has inspired someone to think.”
Lovely.
Where do I start? And am I really limited to 5?
How ’bout I promise to follow this up later today? The dishes aren’t going to do themselves, and I want a few minutes to think this one over. Besides, I believe it really does warrant its own post.

Nice to see that Julia is here to celebrate your three-month blogiversary! Looking forward to the next three months.
Lydia,
I think Julia deserved a spot at the table. I’m sure she would be absolutely tickled if she could see what the world of foodies has become.
