Answers to your questions about Food Network’s newest big thing, Ingrid Hoffmann

Ingrid Hoffman’s Simply Delicioso

Who says bloggers don’t respond to their readership? Well, perhaps some bloggers don’t, but I do!

Several readers posted comments on my post First Impressions, Food Network’s Simply Delicioso with Ingrid Hoffmann. Most of these responses were of the “I Love her” or “I don’t like her” variety, but a few stuck out in my mind.

They were asking if I knew where Ingrid got the clothes she wears on her series…

To be honest, my first thought was “What do I look Like, the Food network Fashion police?” but the question kept coming, so I set out to find the answer for myself, a task that proved to be pretty easy in retrospect.

Now, I say this was pretty simple.  to be honest, had I not been in advertising and marketing for the past 20 years, I might have found this a lot more difficult.  First, I Googled, MSN-ed and YaHoo’d for the answer.  Each of those paths ended up as I expected they would, with nothing.  The next step, try for a direct answer. I jumped over to Ingrid’s official website and asked.

Mind you, it’s not because of my star power that I got an answer.  I believe it is because I know how to send a polite and respectful request, and because Miss Hoffmann’s PR firm is on the ball and would like any positive exposure that they can get.  For any that read here normally, you’ll know I’ve had some harsh words about Food network Celebs in the past.  I didn’t try to hide this from Ingrid’s representatives.  I simply told them that Miss Hoffmann herself was someone whom I actually look forward to watching, which is the absolute truth.  I think Ingrid is a breath of fresh air.  The network needs more of that.

As for your fashion tips…

According to Miss Hoffmann’s Representatives, she often wears Etro and Rene Ruiz.  Both of these designer’s clothes are going to set you back several hundred dollars per piece, but if you’ve got Ingrid’s proportions, they’re sure to be worth the expense, and more than just a little flattering.

Remember, you heard it here first!

Ingrid is currently promoting her new book Simply Delicioso, A Collection of Everyday Recipes With a Latin Twist, which hit bookshelves everywhere February 5th this year.  Having seen some of these recipes on her series, I would recommend this book as a great idea starter that will last many years of great meals.

So why don’t you go grab yourself a copy of Simply Delicioso: A Collection of Everyday Recipes with a Latin Twist, I know it’s on my “to buy list”.

Jerry is the epitome of cooking without a plan. As a matter of fact, he secretly wishes he could participate in an Iron Chef America episode, simply because it is one place where he wouldn't feel at all out of place. Not knowing the ingredients beforehand doesn't make him nervous at all. Of course, the reality is that he'd probably lose and look entirely foolish, but hey, it would still be fun!

  1. Thanks for the “chica tip,” Jerry :)

  2. Her “Chica tips” usually make me giggle. She’s like a toned down version of Rachael Ray with a far more pleasant accent :D

  3. Yesterday I removed Sandra Lee from my WishList on Tivo. What did it was her tip on how to make Indian food taste authentic. I’m still shaking my head. But her visage of holding two different cocktails and saying, “This one is for me now, and this one, in a few minutes! Ahhh, good times.

I’ll give Ingrid a shot, but am not holding my breath.

    Biggles

  4. Biggles,
Ingrid is a different breed altogether. For one thing, she actually cooks! For another, she’s just generally fun to watch, and I’m sure she’ll be more relaxed in season two. Give her a shot.

Byt the Way. I warned you about the evil that is Sandra Lee.

  5. This is unforgivable, but I have never seen her show. I need to watch more cooking shows, but sometimes with all the things that I already have to do (and watch) it seems impossible. I think I just need to organize my time better. Thanks for the fashion tip, I will make sure to keep it in mind for my next wardrobe upgrade, hahaha.

  6. She cooks? What’s she doing on that network then?

  7. Wow! you were polite??! That could never happen ;) Just kiddin’. I never realized asking for your oppinion all those years would help you out today. (haha, hehehe)Latin cooking is wonderful and our girl here has a nice twist. I would rather have my So-Cal girl, now New Yorker, back home to do some cooking with me. Latina is good with this chica here.

  8. Ben,
Catch one or two when you can, they can only help you improve technique, never a bad thing.

Ummmm, I’m not really sure you’ve got the body type for that wardrobe, Man….

    Biggles,
    Good Question!

    Niki,
I can be very sweet when I want to be, Lil’ sister! Say otherwise, C’Mon! I DARE YOU!
